Then organizing the schedule and time....which takes looking at the summer schedule. I like to get my thoughts organized ahead of time and get a mind-set for things...putting things down on paper seems to help a lot too -- not only for organizing time but also events, items, grocery lists, chores, almost everything. I have found if I can sit down at the beginning of the week....have some "free think" time and just write things down that need to be done -- then divide out of that list what "needs" to be done and the "wants" -- then schedule what "needs" to be done on what day, when....then I can put my wants in.....this is usually really helpful. But my main thing is "to have Peace"....I don't like a bunch of clutter, even in my day because it takes away the Peace....and I have found that Peace and Joy are the most important. I like to keep things fun, plain and simple.
For older children, the award winning range from Thinkfun provides a great range of logic based toys that are designed to engage the brain, increase concentration and problem solving skills. These games are commonly known as brainteaser puzzles and, like electronic games, can be played by one person. As with all brain teaser games, creative thinking is required - these are not mere distractions or time-passers.
